Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When I let go of the One and run after other cravings instead, what real honor do I gain? Bowing to every passing want leaves me emptier, not fuller.
This one says that chasing every craving leaves you empty, and real fullness is in the One.
Parabhoo ti-aag — leaving the One, the Source — laagat an lobhaa, the heart holds on to other greeds. Then comes a question: kat sobhaa, "what honor is there?" It answers itself. There is none.
The verse's picture is saluting a servant. Chasing every want is like that. You bow to something that has no real power to fill you.
Think of watching one more video, then one more. You end up emptier, not fuller. The verse names that cost. It does not blame the person. It shows where fullness really lives.
What is a "want" that promised to make you happy but didn't really deliver?
