Those people are complete and whole, I've come to see.
They are the ones humble enough to learn from the good, glad to walk in the dust of those who walk the true path.
The people who are truly whole are the ones humble enough to keep learning from the good.
This is Guru Arjan's closing line, signed with the name Nanak. Kaho naanak say-ee jan pooray — says Nanak, those people are pooray, complete and whole.
Being whole does not come from talent or status. It comes from saadhoo dhooray, the dust of the saadhoo's feet. A saadhoo is a good and holy person who walks the true path.
"The dust of the feet" is an image Gurbani uses often. Being low like dust means being open. Picture a star player who still listens closely to the coach and to teammates. That openness is what keeps them growing.
The willingness to learn is itself what makes a person complete.
