Sikhism·Raag Gauree·Shabad 149
Verse 4 of 5

Hope, Honor, and Strength Rest in the One Keeper

ਆਸਾ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਧਨੁ ਏਕ ॥
aasaa maan taan Dhan ayk.
The One Lord is my hope, honor, power and wealth.
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੩॥
saachay saah kee man meh tayk. ||3||
Within my mind is the Support of the True Banker. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One alone is my hope, my honor, my strength, and my treasure. Deep in my mind I rest on the support of the truest keeper of all.

Hope, honor, strength, wealth — all of it rests safely in the One true keeper.
The deeper layer

Aasaa maan taan dhan ayk — the One is "hope, honor, power, wealth," all four at once. The image saachay saah kee man meh tayk draws on banking: the One as saah, the "true Banker," whose backing never fails. Every kind of security we scatter across many sources is here gathered into a single, trustworthy One.

A Question to Sit With

If you had to name the one thing you most deeply rely on, what would it be?
