Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Deep in your heart, keep the nearness of the One alive. To behold that vast, radiant presence is to truly come alive.

Keep the One alive in your heart; to truly behold that radiance is to truly live.
The deeper layer

Keep the One close in your heart, and seeing the One's greatness will make you truly alive.

Charan kamal hirday meh jaap — remember the lotus feet in your heart. The lotus feet are a loving way of saying the nearness of the One.

Naanak paykh jeevai partaap — Nanak lives by seeing the partaap, the vast glory and shining brightness of the One. Think of the first time you saw the ocean, or a sky full of stars. You feel more awake just from looking.

Really seeing how vast the One is, is itself life. The seeing and the being alive are one and the same.

A Question to Sit With

When has seeing something vast and beautiful made you feel completely alive?
