In plain words

When I feel stuck, as if I'm at the bottom of a deep dark well, the One reaches in and lifts me out.

How wondrous, how astonishing is the beauty of the One who fills the universe!

When you're too stuck to climb out yourself, grace reaches in — and the only fitting response is wonder.
The deeper layer

When we are too stuck to climb out, the One reaches in and lifts us.

AnDh koop tay kaadhay aap — the One Himself pulls us out of the anDh koop, the deep, dark well. The well is a picture of being trapped in confusion or sadness. You cannot climb out by your own strength. Picture falling into a deep hole, and then seeing a hand reach down to pull you up.

The rescue is aap, done by the One itself. It is grace, not a wage you earned.

Then comes the natural answer: gun govind achraj partaap — the glory of the One is achraj, astonishing. The verse goes straight from being lifted out to being amazed. Thankfulness and wonder turn out to be two names for the same feeling.

A Question to Sit With

Has there been a time you felt stuck at the bottom of something, and help came in a way you didn't cause?
