In plain words

When someone brings a false accusation against a person who has done no wrong, the truth has a way of showing itself.

A charge built on a lie cannot hold up forever, and the one who built it is left uneasy inside.

A charge built on a lie cannot hold forever — the truth has its own quiet way of coming out.
The deeper layer

This one says a charge built on a lie cannot last. Truth has its own way of coming out.

Mahjar jhoothaa keeton aap. A mahjar is a formal written complaint against someone. This one was jhoothaa, false, and the One showed it to be false. The shabad grows out of a real event. A false legal charge was brought against Guru Arjan's community. It became a song about truth outlasting lies.

Paapee ka-o laagaa santaap. Santaap is deep inner distress. The verse does not gloat over the one who lied. The distress is simply the natural unease of building a life on something untrue. It is like building a house on sand. Sach, truth, is what actually holds.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever been accused of something you didn't do, and then seen the truth come out over time?
