Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are my mother, my father, my child, my whole family; You are the support of the very breath in me. In the company of good and true people, I sing of You — and so I am carried safely across a world that could have pulled me under.

When the One is your whole family, even a hard world can't pull you under.
The deeper layer

The close. Maat pitaa sut bandhpo — mother, father, child, kin — the One as every family bond, the fullest form of this batch's parent-image. Praan adhaar — support of the breath of life. Then saadhsang... bhajai: in good company, remembering; and bikh tari-aa sansaar — crossing the "poisonous world." We render this as being "carried safely across a world that could have pulled me under" — the danger acknowledged, the safe passage foregrounded. Longing resolves into being fully held and safely carried.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes you feel so held that hard things lose some of their power over you?
