In plain words

This — this is how I meet the One who holds the whole universe.

In a single instant the settled peace arrives, the fog scatters, and my small light merges into the great Light, the way a spark returns to the fire it came from.

Once the sense of separateness lifts, meeting the One is not a long journey — it can happen in an instant.
The deeper layer

This is how the One is met: in one moment, doubt goes, and our little light joins the great Light.

This is the Rahao Doojaa, the second pause line. It is rare. Guru Arjan comes back at the very end to the opening question, and now he answers it. In biDh milai gusaa-ee — this is the way the Master of the universe is met. The way is the one just shown: bonds untied, in holy company.

Sahj bha-i-aa — natural peace comes. Bharam khin meh naathaa — confusion runs away in an instant. Mil jotee jot samaa-ee — meeting Him, my light merges into the Light. Think of a candle carried into a sunny room. Its small flame joins all that brightness.

The shabad has travelled from a question to its lived answer, and this second pause line seals it.

A Question to Sit With

Has an answer you searched a long time for ever arrived suddenly, all at once, the moment you were finally ready?
