Awe Feeds You Where the Appetites Cannot

Cruelty, attachment, desire and egotism

In plain words

Cruelty, clinging, craving, and ego -- these are a bottomless hunger, roaring through you like a wild flooded river that can never be filled. Let awe be your food, your drink, the ground under your feet. Without it, people just rush through life and are gone.

The appetites never fill up -- but awe can feed you where they never could.
The deeper layer

A compact list close to the panch vikaar -- slander, attachment, desire, ego -- named as a hunger and a wild stream in flood: appetites that can never be satisfied because satisfaction is not their nature. The remedy is startling -- make awe your food and drink. Awe is not a feeling to have occasionally but the daily diet that quiets the roaring hunger. Compare Har Ras: the gurmukh is satisfied where the craving mind stays parched.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed how some wants just lead to more wants? What actually leaves you feeling full?
