Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Never let the Oneness slip out of your mind. Here and everywhere after, this is the One who gives every kind of peace.
The One cherishes every single heart — yours, and everyone's.
Keep the One in mind, and you carry peace with you everywhere.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line and the center of the shabad. It opens a set of songs in Gauree Poorbee, a style within Raag Gauree. It gives one simple, whole-hearted instruction. Har har kabhoo na manhu bisaaray — never let the One slip out of your mind. Saying har har twice is like a heartbeat: the rhythm of remembering itself.
Then comes the comfort. Eehaa oohaa means here and hereafter. In both places, the same One is sarab sukh-daata, the Giver of all peace. And the One is sagal ghataa partipaaray, the One who cares for every heart. Not just a few good people, but everyone. It is like the sun, which shines on every house on the street.
What helps you remember something that matters, even on ordinary busy days?
