Verse 3 of 5

Knowing You Belong Dissolves the Never-Enough

ਜੋ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ॥
jo jaaneh har parabh Dhanee.
Those who know the Lord God as their Master,
ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕਮੀ ॥੨॥
kichh naahee taa kai kamee. ||2||
do not lack anything. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Some truly know the Oneness as their Master, the One who has them and holds them.

They lack nothing at all.

Knowing you belong to something vast dissolves the feeling of never having enough.
The deeper layer

Knowing you belong to the One melts away the feeling of never having enough.

Jo jaaneh har prabh dhanee — those who know the One as their dhanee, the Master they belong to. Kichh naahee taa kai kamee — they lack nothing.

This is about feeling content in your heart. It is not about owning more. It also does not explain why some people go without what they need. Real need for food, a home and care is real.

Think of a child at a family dinner. They do not own the table or the food. Yet they feel safe, because they know they belong. Knowing you belong to something vast eases the "never enough" feeling. The verse does not make real needs go away. It changes the emptiness inside.

A Question to Sit With

Is the feeling of "not enough" always about not having enough, or sometimes about something else?
