Open-Hearted Listening Lifts Long-Carried Burdens

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ॥
akaal purakh agaaDh boDh.
The Wisdom of the Undying Primal Being is beyond comprehension.
ਸੁਨਤ ਜਸੋ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਖਏ ॥੨॥
sunat jaso kot agh kha-ay. ||2||
Hearing His Praises, millions of sins are erased. ||2||

In plain words

The wisdom of the Undying One is deeper than any mind can measure — you cannot reach the bottom of it. And simply hearing its praises, letting them in, lightens the heart, lifting away burdens you have carried a long time.

Simply listening with an open heart can lift burdens you've carried a long time.
The deeper layer

The One's wisdom has no bottom, and just listening to the One's praise lifts old weights off the heart.

Akaal purakh agaadh bodh — Akaal Purakh means the Timeless Being, the One who never dies. The One's bodh, wisdom, is agaadh, without a floor. Picture diving into a lake and never touching the bottom.

Sunat jaso kot agh khay — hearing the One's praise, millions of agh are wiped away. Agh is often translated "sins." The picture here is less like a judge clearing a record of crimes. It is more like putting down a heavy backpack you have carried for miles. The relief of a weight set down.

And what does the lifting is simply listening. It echoes suniai, deep listening, from Japji Sahib.

A Question to Sit With

What is a heavy feeling you've carried that got lighter just from letting good words in?
