Kindness Leans Toward the Smallest, Not the Greatest

In plain words

The Supreme Oneness is especially gentle with the small, the humble, the ones who have nothing to bargain with. Simply remembering it, holding it in mind, brings a real and settled peace. Kindness leans toward the least, not the greatest.

Kindness leans toward the smallest and lowest, not the greatest.
The deeper layer

The One is especially gentle with the small and the humble.

Deen da-i-aalaa paarbarahm — the Supreme One, paarbarahm, is deen da-i-aal, kind to the deen, the meek and the lowly. Gurbani says this again and again. Grace bends toward the lowly, not away from them.

That is the opposite of how the world often works. Think of a playground where everyone crowds around the most popular kid. This kindness walks straight past that crowd, to the kid sitting alone.

Jaa kai simran sukh bha-ay — by remembering the One, peace comes. Simran means remembering, keeping the One in mind. This peace is not a prize for the strong. It is there for those who have the least.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the "least noticed" people around you — and how might real kindness treat them?
