gur mili-ai tarisnaa agan bujhaa-ay.
Meeting the Guru, the fire of desire is quenched.

Through the Guru, peace and tranquility come to dwell within the mind.

Through the Guru, we become pure, holy and true.

Through the Guru, we are absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||2||

Meet the teacher and the fire of wanting is put out. Peace comes and settles in the mind. You grow pure, whole, and true, and you melt into the Word.
The teacher puts out the fire of wanting, and peace settles in its place.
The Guru quenches the fire of desire -- where the craving mind stays parched, the Guru brings peace. The fruit is purity and absorption in the Shabad. Desire is not suppressed but extinguished by something that satisfies.
A Question to Sit With
What actually cools the "fire of wanting" for you -- more, or something else?
