Following the Guru's Teachings, one obtains Dharmic faith, composure and the Lord's Name.

naanak naam milai gun gaa-ay. ||12||9||
O Nanak, singing the Glories of God, His Name is received. ||12||9||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Pride is never rubbed away by force; only the teaching quiets it. Following the teaching, a person finds steadiness, an honest way to live, and the Name of the One. Singing in gratitude, that is how the Name is received.

Pride is never forced away — only the teaching quiets it, and grateful praise brings the Name.
The deeper layer

The closing gathers the whole litany into one clear teaching: bin gur garab na mayti-aa jaa-ay — without the Guru, pride cannot be erased. Gurmat dharam dheeraj har naa-ay — the teaching gives an honest way (dharam), composure (dheeraj), and the Name. Naanak naam milai gun gaa-ay — the Name comes through grateful praise. The comp ends on hope and practice, not on the fallen.
