ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jis no bakhsay day vadi-aa-ee.
He grants greatness to those whom He forgives.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad har vasai man aa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.

The One lifts up those it forgives. By grace, the One comes to live inside the mind.
Greatness is granted, not grabbed -- by grace the One comes to live within.
The Rahao: greatness is granted, tied to forgiveness and grace -- not achieved. Even the taming of the mind in the surrounding verses rests on this: the indwelling is given.
