Think of the bee, the moth, the elephant, the fish, the deer — each one drawn in and undone by just one craving it couldn’t resist. Caught in wanting, they never see what is real.
Each of these five animals gets trapped by one single craving it cannot say no to.
This is a well-known teaching. Each creature is caught through one sense. The bee is caught by smell, and the moth by sight. The elephant is caught by touch, the fish by taste, and the deer by sound.
Mirag marai seh apunaa keenaa — each one suffers what its own craving brings. Tarisnaa raach tat nahee beenaa — caught up in tarisnaa, thirsty wanting, they never see tat, what is real. It is like a game that keeps saying "just one more level" until the whole evening is gone. One craving, left to run, can pull you away from everything else.
Which one “craving” is hardest for you to say no to?
