Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You, my mind — you are made for the One; you are made for a deep, settled peace. Don’t let the Name slip away, or you’ll carry an ache you didn’t need to.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It speaks straight to the mind: you were made for the One, and made for peace.
Toon man har jee-o, toon man sookh — you, my mind, are meant for the One; you are meant for peace. Think of a plant made to grow toward the sun. Turned to the light, it thrives.
Naam bisaar saheh jam dookh — forget the Name, and you bear the pain of jam, death. That is an ache you never needed to carry. So the call stays bright and hopeful: the mind is made for peace, and made for the One.
If your mind is “made for peace,” what pulls it away, and what brings it back?
