Arguing and showing off keep the One far away; offering your mind brings you close.
Vaad ahankaar naahee parabh maylaa — arguing and ahankaar, self-importance, do not lead to meeting the One. Man day paavahi naam suhaylaa — give your mind, and the Name brings suhaylaa, ease.
Doojai bhaa-ay agi-aan duhaylaa — living in doojaa bhaa-o and not knowing is hard going. Doojaa bhaa-o is the feeling of being split off from the One, standing apart and above.
Think of two friends who keep arguing just to win. Neither gets any closer. When one of them simply opens up, the distance melts. Ego and arguing block the way. Offering yourself opens it.
