In plain words

Without truly serving and walking with the teaching, we do not come free. It is by grace that we meet the One. And in every age, the teaching is the Great Giver, endlessly giving.

Grace is what brings you to the One — and the teaching has been giving, freely, in every age.
The deeper layer

This one says grace is what brings you to the One.

Bin satgur sayvay mukat na ho-ee — without serving the True Guru, there is no mukat, freedom. Serving here means living with the teaching, walking with it every day. Understanding has to become practice. Think of knowing how a piano works, and then practicing a little every day.

Gur parsaadee milai har so-ee — by grace, one meets the One. The meeting is received like a gift. It is never earned by cleverness or show.

Then comes a warm closing note. Gur daataa jug chaaray ho-ee — the Guru is the Great Giver in all four jug, the four great ages of time. The teaching gives in every time. The door is always open, and grace is always giving. You have only to turn and walk with it.

A Question to Sit With

What is a gift in your life that was freely given to you, that you did not have to earn?
