In plain words

I have been kept safe — the true teacher came and found me.

Now, day and night, the Name is planted firmly in my heart, growing there like a seed that took root.

When the Name takes root in your heart, it holds you steady day and night.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

Ham har raakhay satguroo milaa-i-aa — the One has kept me safe; I have met the True Guru. It is spoken from the inside, as a rescue already received, not one still being asked for. Meeting the true teacher is what did it.

An-din bhagat har naam drirh-aa-i-aa — night and day, loving devotion to the Name was planted firm. Drirh-aa-i-aa means made firm, planted deep. It is a lovely word. The Name is not only remembered. It is planted, like a seed pressed into the soil, until it holds on its own.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good that got planted in you so deeply it now feels like a part of who you are?
