Truth Within Shines Out and Can't Be Hidden

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਰਤਾਏ ॥
antar saach baahar saach vartaa-ay.
One who has Truth pervading within, radiates Truth outwardly as well.
ਸਾਚੁ ਨ ਛਪੈ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਰਖੈ ਛਪਾਏ ॥
saach na chhapai jay ko rakhai chhapaa-ay.
The Truth does not remain hidden, even though one may try to hide it.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੫॥
gi-aanee boojheh sahj subhaa-ay. ||5||
The spiritually wise know this intuitively. ||5||

In plain words

When truth fills a person on the inside, it shines out of them on the outside too — you can just tell. And you can't hide it, even if you tried; the real thing always shows. Those with clear eyes see it right away, naturally.

When truth fills you inside, it shines out — and the real thing can never quite be hidden.
The deeper layer

This one says that when truth fills you inside, it shines out, and it cannot be hidden.

Antar saach baahar saach vartaa-ay — Truth inside becomes Truth shining outside. Saach, truth, is the most real thing there is. When inside and outside match, that is truth as honesty all the way through.

Saach na chhapai jay ko rakhai chhapaa-ay — truth cannot be hidden, however hard someone tries. The real thing gives itself away. Think of a flashlight under a thin blanket. The glow still comes through.

Gi-aanee boojheh sahj subhaa-ay — the wise see it sahj subhaa-ay, naturally and without effort. Realness shows itself.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever met someone whose goodness you could just sense right away? How did you know?
