In plain words

When the Name comes to you, honor comes with it; when the heart accepts the Name and lives from it, peace follows. The Name is received from the true teacher — and through grace, the One is found.

Receive the Name, live from it, and honor and peace follow — met all the way by grace.
The deeper layer

Receive the Name, live by it, and honor and peace follow.

Naam mili-ai pat paa-ee-ai — when you receive the Name, you receive pat, honor. Naam mani-ai sukh ho-ay — when you accept the Name, there is sukh, peace. Mani-ai is the same idea as Mannai in Japji Sahib. It means more than believing. It means accepting the Name and living from it.

Satgur tay naam paa-ee-ai — the Name comes from the true Guru. Karam milai parabh so-ay — by karam, God is met. Here karam means grace and mercy.

So there are three steps: receiving, living by it, and grace. Think of a recipe from your grandmother. First she gives it to you. Then you cook it again and again, until it becomes yours. And every good meal still feels like a gift.

A Question to Sit With

What's the difference between just agreeing that something is true and actually living from it?
