Serve the One Whose Helper Is Never Punished

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਨ ॥
jaa kay chaakar ka-o nahee daan.
His servant does not suffer punishment.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਨ ॥
jaa kay chaakar ka-o nahee baan.
His servant suffers no loss.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਫਤਰਿ ਪੁਛੈ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
jaa kai daftar puchhai na laykhaa.
In His Court, His servant does not have to answer for his account.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥੬॥
taa kee chaakree karahu bisaykhaa. ||6||
So serve Him with distinction. ||6||

In plain words

The One's helper is never punished. That helper never suffers loss.

In the One's great record, no helper is called to answer in fear. So serve that One, above all, with your whole heart.

Serve the One whose helper is never punished, never made to answer in fear -- the kindest one you could ever work for.
The deeper layer

The One is the kindest master you could ever serve.

A chaakar is a servant or helper. The One's helper gets nahee daan, no punishment, and nahee baan, no loss or harm. There is also the daftar, the great record book. In it, the helper is not made to answer for a laykhaa, an account, in fear.

So this is not a scary courtroom. It is a place of safety. Think of a coach you trust completely. You can try hard, make mistakes, and still know you belong on the team. That is what serving the One feels like. Taa kee chaakree karahu bisaykhaa — so serve that One above all, with your whole heart.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to work for someone you never, ever had to be afraid of?
