Living for Pleasure Leaves Restlessness Even in Sleep

ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥
naam bisaar karay ras bhog.
One who forgets the Naam and indulges in pleasures,
ਸੁਖੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਗ ॥੩॥
sukh supnai nahee tan meh rog. ||3||
shall find no peace, even in dreams; his body shall become diseased. ||3||

In plain words

If I set the Name aside and live only for pleasures, peace slips away. Even my sleep feels restless, and the heart grows uneasy.

Living only for pleasure leaves a restlessness that follows you even into sleep.
The deeper layer

Chasing only pleasure while forgetting the Name leaves a restlessness that follows you, even into sleep.

Naam bisaar karay ras bhog — forgetting the Name, someone chases ras bhog, the enjoyment of pleasures. Sukh supnai nahee tan meh rog — there is no sukh, peace, even in dreams, and the body becomes sick. Rog means sickness.

The truth here is plain. Living only for pleasure leaves you uneasy inside, and the unease follows you even into sleep. Think of eating a whole bag of sweets before bed, then tossing and turning all night. This is simply what happens. It is not a punishment.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed that chasing fun for its own sake can leave you feeling emptier?
