He is immersed in the enjoyment of corrupt pleasures; engrossed in them, the blind fool does not understand. ||1||

In plain words

It's easy to get swept up chasing shiny, fleeting pleasures. Caught up in them, you lose sight of what matters — like walking through fog so thick you forget where you're going.

It's easy for anyone to get swept up chasing shiny things and lose sight of what matters.
The deeper layer

This one says it is easy to get so wrapped up in fun things that we stop seeing clearly.

This shabad is a gentle list of the things the ego says to itself. Haumai, the ego, is the "me-first" feeling. The Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad, comes next.

Rang sang bikhi-aa kay bhogaa — caught up in pleasures that do us harm. In sang anDh na jaanee — lost in them, the person cannot see, as if blind, and does not understand.

Think of walking through fog so thick you forget where you were going. The fog is the problem, not the person walking in it. That is the kind way to read this verse. It describes a state, not a bad person. It shows how anyone at all can lose their way.

A Question to Sit With

When have you gotten so caught up in something fun that you forgot what really mattered?
