What Your Mind Clings To Is Shaping Who You Become

ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਨੀ ॥੬॥
jit laago man baasnaa ant saa-ee paragtaanee. ||6||
That desire, to which the mind is attached, at the last moment, becomes manifest. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Whatever your mind clings to most deeply — that's what quietly shapes you, and what shows up most clearly in the end.

Whatever your mind clings to most deeply is quietly shaping who you become.
The deeper layer

What your mind keeps holding onto is slowly shaping who you become.

Jit laago man baasnaa — the wish the mind is stuck to. Baasnaa means a deep wish or craving. Ant saa-ee paragtaanee — in the end, that is what shows.

Think of a path across a lawn. Walk the same way every day, and the grass wears into a trail. What we love most, again and again, wears a trail in us.

The point is not a judgment waiting at the end of life. It looks forward. Our deepest attachments quietly shape our character, day by day.

A Question to Sit With

What does your mind return to most often — and is that who you want to become?
