In plain words

So this is my one prayer, O Kind One: pour Your mercy over me. Let me be humble enough to serve even those who serve — small, glad, and free of all that pride.

The cure for a puffed-up heart is the quiet gladness of serving others.
The deeper layer

The shabad ends by asking for the one thing that cures pride: a glad heart that serves.

Da-i-aal purakh kirpaa karahu — Kind One, show me mercy. Naanak daas dasaanee — let Nanak be the servant of Your servants. That is the humblest place there is. It is also the happiest one.

Remember all the "I, I, I" earlier in the shabad? This is its cure. Think of a kid who stops asking "Did I win?" and starts asking "Who needs a hand?" That kid feels lighter right away.

The knot of ego is untied by grace, not by willpower. So the shabad ends by asking to be small. That smallness is the real freedom.

A Question to Sit With

What's one small way you could serve someone this week, just for the joy of it?
