Coming and going in reincarnation is ended, O Nanak, for those whose minds are filled with the Lord. ||1||

In plain words

We arrive in the flow of existence, and we leave in that same flow. No one stands outside of it.

And the endless coming and going — the restless churn — settles and ends for the one whose mind is truly filled with the One.

You come and go within one great flow you can't stand outside of — and resting in the One stills the restless churn.
The deeper layer

A Shalok on hukam — in this project's lens, "the flow of existence," not "God's command" as a rule barked from above. Aavat hukam, binaas hukam: we come by the flow, we go by the flow; aagyaa bhinn na ko-ay — nothing is separate from it, the way nothing escapes gravity. This is not fatalism that cancels your choices; it is the recognition that your whole existence is held within a larger movement you are part of, not apart from. The second line offers the release: aavan jaanaa tih mitai — the restless cycle of coming and going quiets for the one jih man so-ay — whose mind rests in the One. When you stop swimming against the river, the exhausting churn stops too. Peace is alignment, not escape.

A Question to Sit With

When have you stopped fighting how things naturally go, and felt tiredness turn into calm?
