When the tangles that held someone finally fall away, they find their way into the company of the good and wise.
And those who soak up love for the One take on its deep, rich color — a color that doesn't wash out.
A short, glowing Shalok that answers the heavier Pauri before it. Where the last section warned of ropes and walls, this one shows the release: tootay bandhan — the bonds snap — and the freed person naturally drifts into saadhoo sang, the company of the holy. The closing image is one of Gurbani's loveliest: goorhaa rang — a "deep, fast color." It calls back to the fading safflower dye of the earlier Shalok and reverses it: love for the One is a color that soaks all the way through and never washes out. In this project's lens, being raatay — dyed, imbued — is what happens when haumai dissolves and you stop blocking the grace that was always there. Two dyes, two lives: the bright one that fades, and the deep one that lasts.
What is a love or interest that has soaked so deep into you that it just isn't going to fade?
