In plain words

Nanak says: wherever holy people sing the praises of the One, day after day, something bright and protecting fills that place.

Even the fairness woven through existence guards that ground — it is as if fear and harm are told, "Do not come near here." Where love and remembering are sung together, trouble simply loses its grip.

Where holy people sing and remember the One, a brightness fills the room and trouble loses its grip.
The deeper layer

Where holy people sing the praises of the One, fear and harm keep their distance.

Jah saadhoo gobid bhajan keertan neet — where holy people sing keertan, the praises of the One, every day. In the second line dharam raa-ay, the Judge of fairness, warns the doot, the Messenger of Death, not to go near that place. The picture is a gentle one: the very fairness of existence guards the place, so fear and harm stay away. Places of shared song and remembrance are sanctuaries; trouble loses its footing there. Next comes the "Nanna" Pauri, on the inner battle.

A Question to Sit With

What is a place or gathering that always makes you feel safe and bright inside? What happens there?
