Listen, my mind — here is something true: come into the shelter of the One, the great and gentle King of all.
Nanak says: set down every clever trick you have been using to protect yourself; you do not need them here. When you let them go and simply rest in the One, you are gathered in and made whole, folded back into the Oneness you never left.
Take shelter in the One, set down every clever trick, and be gathered back in.
Sat kaha-o sun man mayray — listen, my mind, this is true — the "O my mind" self-address that runs through this stretch. Saran parahu har raa-ay — take shelter with the One, the great and gentle King. Ukat siaanap sagal tiaag — give up all clever tricks; the reward is lay samaa-ay, absorption. Through Ik Onkar, that means being folded back into the Oneness you never left.
What "clever tricks" do you sometimes use to protect yourself that you could safely set down?
