Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are the maker of everything, beyond my reach to fully grasp — so who could I ever compare You to?
If there were anyone as great as You, I would name them. But only You are like You.
You are the one flowing through every single heart, revealed to the one who turns toward the Guru.
You are the true keeper of all, higher than everything.
Whatever You do simply comes to be — so why would I ever grieve?
Two ideas sit together: the One is agamm (beyond full reach) and intimately near — ghat ghat ik varatdaa, "the one thing flowing through every heart." So the divine is not a far-off ruler; it is closer than your own breath, present in everyone, and revealed to the Gurmukh. The last line is the emotional heart and a direct expression of Hukam, the flow of existence: too karahi so sachay ho-isee, taa kaait karheeai — "whatever You do comes to be, so why grieve?" Here is the deep steadiness of trusting the flow of life — like a swimmer who stops fighting the current and finds they can float. For a child, it lands as reassurance: you do not have to control everything for things to be okay.
What is something you worry about that you cannot control? What would it feel like to set that worry down?
