The True Guru is a kind giver, always full of care.
Inside, the True Guru holds no hatred toward anyone — seeing the same One in everyone.
If someone keeps aiming hatred at a person who holds no hatred back, they never find peace inside themselves.
The True Guru wishes everyone well — so how could harm ever touch such a heart?
Whatever spirit you bring to the True Guru, that is the fruit you carry away. Nanak says: the Maker knows everything; nothing is ever hidden.
At the centre stands nirvair — "without hatred" — one of the qualities of the One named in the Mool Mantar itself. The True Guru embodies it: sabh daykhai barahm ik so-ay, "sees the one divine in all." Hatred carries its own consequence, with no punishment sent from outside: the one who keeps hating a person who won't hate back never finds peace within themselves — the harm curdles inward. Carrying hatred is its own burden. Satgur no jayhaa ko ichhdaa tayhaa fal paa-ay — "as you approach the True Guru, so is what you receive" — is a mirror principle: the Guru reflects back the spirit you bring.
Have you noticed how staying angry at someone often hurts you more than it hurts them?
