Such a Saint is the Uniter, O Nanak - he straightens out the path. ||2||

In plain words

Rare is the person whose heart is stitched right through with love for the One and who recognizes the One.

Nanak says: such a saint is a re-uniter — quietly, they straighten the path so others can find their way home.

A heart stitched with love becomes a bridge — it makes the way easier for everyone who follows.
The deeper layer

Neehi je vidhaa — "pierced with love" — is a strong, physical image: the heart stitched through, so the thread of love and the person become one weave. Such a one, man pachhaanoo, "recognizes" the One — knows them, not just knows about them — and is virlo thi-o, "rare." The gift of such a rare heart is generous, not private: jorhanhaaraa sant — the holy one is a jorhanhaaraa, "a joiner, a re-uniter," someone who brings the separated back together — and paadhar padhro, "makes the path smooth and level." Real love doesn't hoard itself; it clears the road for everyone behind it.

A Question to Sit With

Has anyone ever "smoothed the path" for you, making something hard feel possible? Could you do that for someone?
