Peace Is Not Beyond the Storm but Inside the World

ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

In the terrifying world-ocean, there is an ocean of peace.

In plain words

Even in the middle of a wide, stormy world, there is an ocean of peace. And here is the wonder: I keep drinking from it, and it never runs dry. There is always more.

Peace is not somewhere beyond the storm; there's an ocean of it right inside the world, and it never runs out.
The deeper layer

Right inside the stormy ocean of life is an ocean of peace, and it never runs dry.

Bhav saagar sukh saagar maahee — inside the bhav saagar, the world-ocean, is a sukh saagar, an ocean of peace. The world-ocean is the wide, sometimes rough sea of ordinary life. Kabir's turn is surprising. Peace is not beyond the storm. It is inside it.

Peev rahay jal nikhutat naahee — I keep drinking, and the Water never runs out. Grace does not get used up when it is received. That is why it is always here, and not a prize for only a few. Think of a well fed by a deep spring. The more water you draw, the more flows in. The world is big, but the answer is bigger still.

A Question to Sit With

When life feels big and overwhelming, where can you find a still, steady place inside it?
