Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The day you join with what is holy -- that is your wedding day. Letting go of the world's grip -- that is the marriage itself. And from that union, something is born: truth, alive in you, like a child.
When you join with what is holy, truth is born inside you, like a child.
Here the family picture comes to its end. Spending time with the Holy is the wedding day. Vairaag, letting go of the world's grip, is the marriage itself.
And the child of this marriage is sach, truth. Not truth you only believe, but truth that is born and comes alive in you. This is where Guru Nanak's whole new picture of family was heading.
Think of an apple tree. You do not force an apple into being. You care for the tree, and the fruit comes. A life lived close to the One grows truth the same way. It comes naturally, as fruit. It is not a prize you win.
What would you have to let go of a little, to make room for something truer to grow?
