ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥

ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
virlaa ko paa-ay gur sabad veechaaraa.
How rare are those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
aap tarai saglay kul uDhaaraa. ||3||
They save themselves, and save all their family and ancestors as well. ||3||

In this age, freedom comes only through the One's Name. Rare are those who hold the Word in their hearts. And those who do save not only themselves but their whole family, going back generations.
The Name frees not just you but, through you, those around and before you.
A Kali Yuga teaching: in the present dark age, the Name is the one means of salvation. The reach is communal -- the realized one redeems the family and ancestors too.
