Some people live in inner darkness, cut off, forgetting the One. For them, no amount of money or status brings real rest. The king in his palace and the poorest person in the street both weep. They carry the same ache when that light is missing.
Money and status cannot cure an ache that comes from inside.
Andhkaar sukh kabeh na so-ee — in the darkness, no one sleeps in peace. The andhkaar, the darkness, is forgetting the One.
Raajaa rank do-oo mil ro-ee — the king and the poor person both weep. Being rich or famous does not change what is happening inside. The darkness feels the same for everyone.
Think of two people with the flu. One lies in a mansion and one in a small flat. Both still feel sick. A soft bed does not cure the fever.
This is Kabir's teaching on equality again, now turned inward. Every heart that forgets its source feels restless. So the cure must be for everyone too.
Have you noticed that having more things doesn't fix a restless or lonely feeling inside?
