In plain words

Following the Guru's teaching, sing the One's praises. Savor each word like something delicious.

Say the Beloved's Name, again and again, and a quiet peace settles over you.

Savored slowly, the Name is like something sweet on the tongue — and it brings peace.
The deeper layer

Here the shabad turns to what to do: taste the sweetness of the Name.

Gurmat ras ras har gun gaavai — following the Guru's teaching, sing the One's praises with delight. Gurmat is the Guru's teaching. Ras means sweet taste, and saying it twice, ras ras, means tasting it slowly.

Raamai raam ramat sukh paavai — saying "Raam, Raam," you find sukh, peace. Raam is a name for the One.

This is naam simran, remembering the Name. It is a joyful practice that gives peace, not a chore. Think of letting a piece of good chocolate melt slowly instead of gulping it. This is the happy heart of the shabad.
