In plain words

Some stay awake to the One Name, all through the day and night.

So many of them grow into truly awakened beings, their whole heart tuned to the One.

Staying gently awake to the One, day and night, quietly transforms you.
The deeper layer

Staying awake to the One, day and night, slowly changes a person completely.

This line is the rahaa-o, the "pause," the center of the shabad, and the shabad opens right on it. Ahinis ayk naam jo jaagay — those who stay awake to the One Name, day and night. Ahinis means day and night.

Being "awake" to the Name means keeping the One present in your mind. Not just now and then, but like a steady light inside. Think of a night-light in a hallway. It stays on quietly, so you never lose your way in the dark.

Kaytak sidh bha-ay liv laagay — many of them became sidhs, people who have truly reached the goal, with their hearts tuned to the One. Kabir says this simple, loving attention is what turns ordinary people into deeply awakened ones.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to keep one good, steady thought lit inside you all day?
