The Complete Person Holds Nothing but the One

ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਗ ਸੋਈ ॥
kahai kabeer pooran jag so-ee.
Says Kabir, he alone is perfect in this world,
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੩੮॥
jaa kay hirdai avar na ho-ee. ||5||38||
in whose heart there is none other than the Lord. ||5||38||

In plain words

Says Kabir: in this world, one person is truly whole and complete.

It is the one whose heart holds nothing and no one but the Beloved.

The complete person is the one whose heart holds nothing but the One.
The deeper layer

The shabad ends by naming the truly complete person: the one whose heart is full of the One.

Kahai kabeer pooran jag so-ee — says Kabir, that one is complete in this world. Pooran means complete, whole. It is not the richest person or the most powerful. Jaa kay hirdai avar na ho-ee — it is the one whose heart holds no other. Hirdai means heart.

Such a heart is so full of the One that there is no room for anything smaller. Think of a glass filled right to the top with clean water. Nothing else can squeeze in. Being whole means having a full heart, and a full heart is the whole point.

A Question to Sit With

What fills your heart so fully that everything else feels small beside it?
