In plain words

Everyone knows how to get themselves caught in this worry — but hardly anyone knows the way out.

Says Kabir: the one who holds the Beloved in their heart carries no impurity at all.

True purity isn't an outward stain to avoid — it's the One held in your heart.
The deeper layer

True purity comes from holding the One in your heart.

Faasan kee bidh sabh ko-oo jaanai — everyone knows how to get caught. Chhootan kee ik ko-ee — hardly anyone knows how to get free. People are experts at getting tangled up in worry about being "clean enough."

Kahi kabeer raam ridai bichaarai — says Kabir, whoever keeps Raam, a name for the One, in their ridai, their heart. Sootak tinai na ho-ee — impurity does not touch them.

Think of a room full of sunlight. There is no dark corner left to worry about. The freedom is in a full heart. True purity was never about stains on the outside. It was always about what fills your heart.

A Question to Sit With

What do you think makes someone truly good on the inside?
