In plain words

There is a way of living so free that you let your old grasping self grow quiet. Then a new, truer life begins in you, one that time cannot touch.

You can stay clean and clear right in the middle of a messy world. Once you know that, you never feel like you are drowning again.

Let the grasping self grow quiet, and a truer life — clear even in a messy world — begins.
The deeper layer

This one says: let the grasping self grow quiet, and a truer life begins.

Jeevat marai marai fun jeevai — dying while alive, and then truly living. This is Kabir's famous way of speaking. It does not mean real death. It means letting haumai, the grasping, me-first ego, fall quiet while you go on living fully and gladly. Aisay sunn samaa-i-aa — this way, one melts into sunn, the deep stillness of the One.

Anjan maahi niranjan rahee-ai — stay niranjan, pure and unstained, in the middle of anjan, the smudge and mess of the world. Bahurh na bhavjal paa-i-aa — and you will not fall into the rough world-ocean again. In plain words, you will not feel like you are drowning.

Think of a lotus flower. It grows up out of muddy water, yet its petals stay clean. You can be clear-hearted even in a messy world.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to stay calm and clear-hearted even when things around you are chaotic?
