In plain words

Imagine a place with no storms and no oceans, no glaring sun and no shade — a place beyond beginnings and endings.

There is no living or dying there, no ache and no thrill that comes and goes. There is only a deep, still peace, whole and undivided.

Beneath all the ups and downs is a deep, undivided stillness — and it lives inside you.
The deeper layer

This one describes a deep stillness inside, beyond all the ups and downs.

Kabir lists the pairs that toss us around. Tah paavas sinDh Dhoop nahee chhahee-aa — there is no rainy season or ocean there, no sun and no shade. There is no making and no breaking. Jeevan mirat na dukh sukh bi-aapai — no life or death, no pain or pleasure, can touch it.

What is there? Sunn samaaDh, a deep and complete stillness, like a trance of perfect quiet. Do-oo tah naahee — there is no "two" there. Nothing is split into this side and that side.

Think of the ocean. Waves crash on top, but far below, the water is calm. This stillness is not a faraway heaven. It is the depth inside a settled heart, where the push and pull of opposites finally goes quiet.

A Question to Sit With

Where inside yourself can you find a little of that deep, quiet peace when life feels up-and-down?
