When the true Guide is met, the darkness lifts, and just like that, the jewel is found — the treasure that was there all along.
This one says that understanding is a gift, and when it comes, the treasure that was always there shows up.
Jisahi bujhaa-ay so-ee boojhai — only the one the One helps to understand, understands. Understanding is received, not grabbed. Bin boojhay ki-o rahee-ai — and without it, how can anyone live at ease?
Satgur milai andhayraa chookai — meeting the satgur, the True Guru, the darkness of confusion ends. In bidh maanak lahee-ai — this is how the maanak, the jewel, is found.
The jewel was never far away. It only needed light. Think of hunting for your glasses in a dark room, then switching on the lamp and finding them on your nose.
This answers the whole shabad's search. The answer is not a better outside method. It is the inner light that shows what is already here.
