Life Weaves Itself Into the World's Great Pattern

Life weaves itself into its patterns.

ghar chhodi-ai jaa-ay julaaho. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Leaving her home, the soul goes to the world of the weaver. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Life quietly weaves itself into all its patterns.

And in time, the soul leaves its familiar home and goes out into the great weaving of the world.

Life quietly weaves itself into patterns, and the soul goes out into the great weaving of the world.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao. Ga-ee bunaavan — the weaving goes on; life patterns itself. The soul "leaving home for the weaver's world" is Kabir's image for entering this life of making and unmaking. We keep it gentle and wondering rather than mournful: everyone's life is being woven into a pattern, and the loom of the world is where the soul does its living. The craftsman sees the whole of existence as one vast loom.

A Question to Sit With

If your life were a piece of cloth, what pattern would you most like it to be weaving?
