A new little one comes into the world, takes that very first breath —
and in the rush of arriving, forgets the One it came from. That gentle remembering is what we get to find again.
We arrive, we get busy, and forget our Source — and the whole point is to remember.
Kabir sketches the moment of birth: the first touch of air, and the newborn's forgetting of its Source. This isn't blame — a baby can't help it — it's simply how the story of a human life begins: we arrive, we get busy living, and the quiet awareness of where we came from slips out of view. The whole shabad is an invitation to re-remember what was there before the first breath.
A Question to Sit With
What's something true that's easy to forget when life gets busy?
