Stop wobbling back and forth, restless heart.
Once you've truly given yourself to the path, let the small, fearful self quiet down — and you'll find what you were really looking for.
Stop wobbling, let the small, fearful self quiet down, and wholeness is right there.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Dagmag chhaad ray man ba-uraa — stop your wobbling, restless mind. Dagmag is the wobble of a heart that is split in two. This is the real command.
The rest of the line uses fierce pictures of dying to reach perfection. They come from the same old satee picture as before. Their inner meaning is about haumai, the me-first feeling that makes us feel separate. It is this small self that quiets and melts. That is healing, not harm.
Think of a bike rider who keeps wobbling because they are scared. Once they stop fighting and trust the ride, the bike goes straight. What waits on the other side is wholeness.
When has stopping your own back-and-forth doubting actually helped you feel free?
