Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Your Name is what holds me up, the way water holds a lotus flower open and alive.
Says Kabir: I belong wholly to Your home — whatever You bring, sweet or hard, I trust it.
The lotus (fool) that lives because of the water is a tender image of dependence-as-life: cut off from the water, the flower fades; held by it, it blooms. Naam is that water. The literal calls Kabir a gulaam — a servant of the household — and says "I live or die as You will"; that wording stays in the literal layer above, while the retelling renders it as complete trust, belonging fully to the One's home, keeping the surrender's peace and setting the harsh phrasing aside for a child. Kabir calls himself lovingly of the One's own household — the deepest belonging there is.
What is the "water" that keeps you feeling alive and yourself?
